Pet Cancer Screening in Fort Lauderdale
DPC Veterinary Hospital is a leading Fort Lauderdale area vet clinic that is uniquely equipped to provide fast results for dog and cat cancer screening. Cancer is responsible for nearly 50% of all disease related deaths of pets and until recently it went undiagnosed until it had spread significantly. Thanks to the fully equipped and staffed onsite laboratory, our veterinarians can run a simple CBC and 15 panel blood chemistry to determine if your dog or cat is at risk for cancer or has the disease.
Just like in humans, early detection of cancer or cancer risk significantly increases the effectiveness of any therapy or procedure. Testing your pet is quick, painless, and inexpensive. It’s a screening that literally could add years of life for your four- legged friend.

Common Cancer Symptoms in Pets
The symptoms of cancer are also symptoms for other diseases and conditions and that’s why it’s important to screen your pet for cancer.
Symptoms include:
- Loss of appetite
- Blood or discharge from any opening
- Difficulty swallowing
- Abnormal swellings
- An offensive odor
- Lumps or masses
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
Cancer Screenings Can Include Blood Tests & X-rays
A very high white blood cell count could indicate a pet has leukemia. Elevated blood calcium levels could result from several different types of cancers. Lab work alone will not accurately inform us whether a pet has cancers. The screening along with ultrasound would give you the best odds of detecting cancer.
